Arco Magno
A SMALL LAGOON
ARCO MAGNO
THE FASCINATING BOTTOMS OF CALABRIA
One of the most characteristic destinations and suggestive is certainly the Arcomagno beach in San Nicola Arcella , a small town in the province of Cosenza overlooking the sea of the Calabrian Riviera.
The Gulf of Policastro it counts beaches of extraordinary beauty, among which the most fascinating is precisely that of Arcomagno. To get to the beach you have to take a path that crosses a wild landscape of steep rocks. Also known as the beach of Enea, it is a real one small lagoon about 25 meters long with the beach made up of small pebbles and gravel and the clean and crystalline sea.
The name of the beach originates from the presence of a large rock arch that protects it from the sea and makes it unique. Precisely this corner of the coast was a docking point for the Saracens headed for Italy and for this reason it is also called the Grotta del Saraceno.
The path leading to the Arcomagno beach is carved into the rock
and it is short but a little steep. You have to pay some attention during the journey but all the efforts are rewarded upon arrival, thanks to the suggestive scenery that nature offers in this real corner of paradise.
In a few minutes you arrive in a place that is ideal for spending a pleasant day of diving, swimming and sunbathing in an extraordinary landscape. While walking along the path, you are enchanted by the wonderful panorama : see the coast and the whole Riviera dei Cedri and the profile of the beautiful Dino Island really leaves you speechless. The advice is not to leave too early, but to stay until the sun plunges into the sea, sunset is the most beautiful moment of the day to spend on this beach, when the sun's rays create a magical atmosphere crossing right through the arch with their warm light.
